2022 In Review

Change is the only constant, as they say. At Frannie Peabody Center, we continue to learn and grow as we head into 2023. Our ability to adapt has guided us through these past few challenging years and the support from our community strengthens our ability to provide a high level of care for individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS in Maine.

With ongoing affects of COVID-19, FPC continued to administer CARES Act funds to support the housing and health stability of over 400 individuals in Maine. As MPX posed an additional risk in 2022, FPC assisted with vaccine clinic coordination in tandem with HIV testing services.

After years of advocacy, HUD has enabled FPC's housing subsidy program to increase rent payment standards, which will significantly impact voucher holders' ability to find stable housing units amidst the current housing shortage crisis that has been felt across the country.

Services and events are moving safely in-person again - which has been warmly welcomed (even through a chilly 2022 AIDS Walk).

The lessons learned through COVID-19 have resulted in filling long-time service gaps, allowed us to evolve into a more efficient, and mobile staff, and given us the opportunity to be a stronger force in advocating for access to quality services.  As we head into 2023, and continue with our Strategic Plan, we look forward to enhancing services by increasing direct client financial assistance, investing in our talented staff, and continuing to partner with providers to offer specialized, integrated care that support our clients' health and well-being as well as HIV prevention services.

We wish you a healthy and happy new year, and thank you for your continued support for our work.

Frannie Peabody Center

Frannie Peabody Center was one of only 53 organizations in the country to receive a grant to expand HIV self-testing.  Through this grant, FPC has partnered with more than 10 organizations throughout the state for the capacity to distribute 400 HIV self-test kits.

Don't miss a thing! Stay in touch with us in the coming months as we launch 2023's Southern Maine AIDS Walk/5K - our largest annual fundraiser, and one of the biggest opportunities to show your support and fight HIV-related stigma. AIDS Walk Website to launch Feb. 1, 2023

We Moved!

(Not too far) Our new address is just down the hall from our old spot - please note our new address - 30 Danforth St. Suite 309, Portland, ME 04101.  This smaller, more efficient space allows us to save on overhead expenses, giving us exciting opportunities to expand client resources and service delivery in the future!

In Memoriam

We recently lost our dear friend, supporter, and board member, Tim Stein. His contributions and dedication to the community were immeasurable and he will be greatly missed.  We will think of Tim as we continue to provide a high level of care in 2023 and build on the services that he helped to uplift.
